Yes, there must be something wrong in the universe because I have done two posts within days of each other. Grab your hard hats and run to your bomb shelters! And bring your t.v. because LOST is on tonight!
Warning: The following images may be disturbing to some viewers (like me) who faint after getting a paper cut.
Last Saturday we went the outdoor Legends Mall so I could return some stuff I bought after Christmas. Abby and Hallie LOVE going there because of the life-sized dinosaurs, the yellow-brick road, and the fountain. It's too bad it wasn't all just good sales and dinosaur fun. After coming out of one of the stores, Hallie fell face first onto the sidewalk. Her mouth was bleeding pretty badly so I checked to see if her teeth were loose. All were okay except for her top front tooth, which was pretty loose and hanging lower than the others.
So due to the expert advice and knowledge from Hallie's uncle and future dentist, Mark, we made an appointment with a pediatric dentist on Monday, where we found out her root was cracked a little below her permanent tooth. So...today we went to the oral surgeon to have it extracted.
He didn't think her permanent tooth was damaged, but it's hard to tell for sure on the x-ray. Three stitches later, she's as good as new...minus a tooth. Now we just have to wait until May for it to heal so we can have a fake tooth put in. Poor Hal was so brave and did very well. She got a shot to put her halfway to sleep and got to live in another world for a while, complete with princesses, robots, not one, but two moms, and a removable tongue, all while sitting at the airport. Sounds fun to me, and it must have been because while coming out of the anesthesia, she started throwing both fists in the air and mumbling through the gauze like she was cheering. Maybe the robots were having a race? Here are some of her quotes, in order of utterance:
Phlat (while spitting out her gauze) was fun.
That was fun, Mom!
(After driving up to our house): My pincess friends are here.
(Pulling out the gauze): This is my tongue.
You and me were robots.
That was the airport.
There were two moms at the doctor.
My tooth feels like an ice cube.
Does it look like I have monster teeth? (She was still numb so her teeth probably felt huge.)
I'm just glad it's over. I hope the moms in her dream had fun because this mom doesn't want to do it again, even if Hallie's robot won the race. I hope the victory dance in her dream was as good as the one in the doctor's office!

Jenny! I just saw your blog on the Winter's blog! I am glad everything went good at the dentist!! And congratulations on the new little baby!
A paper cut huh? You may be worse than I am. ;) Luckily, Hallie actually looks pretty cute without a tooth. Sounds like you found a good doctor to help her. I am so glad!
Wow, what a trooper Hallie was! I agree with Beth.... she is cute without a tooth! Poor girl! And I'm proud you didn't faint!
Kids in this Hansen family and their falls causing teeth problems. It's the worst, but glad they are all tough! Hallie is cute with her early lost tooth. She makes a good fit with Noah and his snaggle tooth from his accident.
(This is Katie) LOL. Monster teeth. I know the exact feeling--when I got numbed for a cavity. But I couldnt think of the right words to describe it. I'll call Hallie next time I'm looking for eloquant words. I can't believe how strong kids can be. They can surprise you. Hallie was a star! And i was right. more endearing. I hope her mouth isn't too sensitive for very long.
I'm proud of Hallie! I'm crossing my fingers that Pincess Angeleah was invited to the Robot Race at the Airport.
jenny! how are you. i can't believe that you were brave enough to even take pictures of that tooth. glad she's okay. i also want to wish you a happy birthday. i've been meaning to call but just haven't. i hope you got the package i sent. how's the pregnancy going. hope all is well. megs
